Born in Oxford, England in 1993, Eleanor Hardwick spent much of her childhood creating in any medium that she could. At the age of twelve she began to take photographs which she then uploaded online, and before long publications such as Dazed & Confused and The Independent took notice of her work and interviewed her. This publicity allowed her career in photography to blossom whilst she was still studying in high school.
Currently based in London, Hardwick now considers herself a multidisciplinary artist with directing, painting, music, writing and curating being just a few of the mediums in which she works. She is also a staff photographer at Rookie Magazine, an online magazine for teenage girls edited by Tavi Gevinson, where she also illustrates, writes reviews and DIYs, curates playlists and mixtapes, and makes comics. In addition to this, she is part of World Wide Women collective. She is also the in house photographer for Meadham Kirchhoff's fashion shows.
In 2013, Hardwick also began to make music and perform with Beau Hulse under the moniker Moonbow, with the desire to approach pop music with the same careful intention found within conceptual art. Using a mixture of electronic hardware and found organic instruments, the songs sit in a middle ground between trippy pop and transcendental soundtracks. Their live shows are often based around a loose narrative that is reenforced through the use of visuals, set design, costume and smell - whilst video projects are presented as narrative short films, and releases accompanied by zines of visual artwork by Hardwick and Hulse.
